This just might be the year that video gets the attention it deserves in recruiting.

We’ve already written about why all recruiters should use video, and Joe Matar, our director of marketing, has been busy creating video interviews with innovative talent acquisition leaders for months. We’ve shared clips from many of these videos on our social media channels, but because we’re still getting the hang of this omnichannel thing ourselves, we’ve never posted these videos on our blog… until now!

To make sure you don’t miss out on any of the recruiting wisdom Joe and his guests share, we put together this roundup of the best videos of 2019 so far.

Heidi Gerhard, Director of Talent Acquisition, BASF

If candidate experience has become a key focus of your talent acquisition efforts, this video is a must-see. BASF ditched the long lists of position requirements and replaced them with ”impact-based hiring,” which is focused on the accomplishments and the results an employee is expected to achieve in a given role. Do you know what your employees actually think about your company? Jennifer Newbill, director of university relations and recruitment at Dell, does. For the last several years, her team has been encouraging employees to review their employer (anonymously) on Glassdoor, for better or worse. By monitoring and responding to the results, Dell isand helping employees understand the impact those reviews have on job seekers who are reading about potential employers on the site. A big part of talent acquisition is focused on employer branding, and that can be a huge challenge when you work for a company that doesn’t have immediate name recognition. Kumari Williams, director of talent acquisition and employer branding at HARMAN International, is in charge of such a mission. HARMAN may not be a household name (yet) but some of its subsidiaries, like JBL, are quite well known. Kumari explains how to bridge the knowledge gap between familiar product lines and the separate brand of the parent company. She shares the techniques that have worked for HARMAN to build a distinct employer brand that helps attract candidates, as well as how her team measures the results of those efforts.
